Keep Sharing!

#jewlzstories

Sometimes we take for granted that our stories has a lasting impact on others. I was reminded today how I hung on every post when I first joined Instagram. Learning as much as I could about gender and sexuality in the hopes of finding myself among the mess. And I did. But I never gave a single thought about how my own story might impact people around me. Even in my own extended family.

My journey, and open sharing of the things I’m willing and comfortable to talk about, has brought me closer to one such person in my extended family, only to realize that we are having such similar struggles. For the first time in over 20 years of knowing this person, we connected on topics of gender and sexual identity. Which was amazing. For the first time I see them. Really see them. And I’m seen by them.

Our stories, no matter how seemingly insignificant, has an impact. Maybe even on someone much closer than you realize. So keep sharing .. if you can.
